Sure Start Developmental Programme for 2-3 Year Olds
The programme is a Department of Education initiative which aims to promote all areas of children’s development, equipping them with the skills needed to help them in their transition into the pre-school. Throughout this programme the child is considered to be a self-learner and an initiator of their own play so the programme provides a holistic approach to children’s learning based around a play based learning environment for children aged between 2 and 3 years old. The programme incorporates a range of age appropriate activities which aims to fulfil the children’s curiosity whilst also providing a range of experiences that will promote all areas of their development. Included in the wide range of activities are arts and crafts, rhymes and stories, messy play, imaginative play, construction and physical activities. (Next Intake in September 2019)
The Nurturing Programme
(Delivered by Coleraine Sure Start)
The Nurturing Programme benefits both children and parents by: promoting emotional health, building self-esteem, developing communication and social skills, teaching positive ways to resolve conflict, providing effective ways to encourage co-operative, responsible behaviour in children and to encourage parents to take time to look after themselves.
