Good Morning Causeway

Good Morning Causeway is a free and confidential telephone support service providing regular friendly calls to older and vulnerable people in the local community. The service offers reassurance, companionship and an important connection for people who may be living alone or feeling isolated. 

How does it work?

Our friendly team makes regular telephone calls to check that service users are safe and well. If a scheduled call is not answered, agreed procedures can be followed to alert others, providing additional reassurance for both the individual and their family. 

But Good Morning Causeway is about much more than a check-in. A friendly conversation can provide a listening ear, reduce feelings of loneliness and help people stay connected with their community. Where appropriate, we can also help signpost people towards local activities, community groups and other support services.

Making a difference every day

Good Morning Causeway is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers. In a 2024 profile of West Bann Development, NICVA reported that the team was making around 190 outreach calls each day, providing an important connection for older and vulnerable people. Service users are also encouraged to become involved in activities at the Centre, including opportunities to meet socially at coffee mornings. 

Who can benefit?

The wider Good Morning service supports people who may benefit from regular reassurance or additional social contact, including older people and people with disabilities or other vulnerabilities. It can be particularly valuable for someone who lives alone, feels isolated or would simply appreciate a friendly and regular call.
